The Product Manager (Product Management Associate III) will support the organization by developing and managing product lifecycles from NPI (strategic planning through customer delivery) to product end-of-life/transition planning.  Core responsibilities will be focused on new revenue optimization as well as managing the existing catalogue of products to ensure ongoing gross margin contribution through defined product life cycles. The Product Manager will lead overall product & pricing strategies while collaborating with cross-functional teams to maximize sales of both new and existing products for the assigned brand(s).

 Essential Functions: 

  • Lead the development and positioning of new products within the assigned brand of product families based on market research, competitive review, and primary / secondary customer research
  • Responsible for product & SKU rationalization to ensure healthy product catalog ensuring ongoing revenue & gross margin optimization. Responsibility will include overall development lifecycle management including product end-of-life
  • Collaborate with external customers, stakeholders and cross-departmental internal team members (such as marketing, sales, customer service, technical support and engineering) to develop market requirements, product specifications, feature descriptions, use-cases, costs, pricing, warranty provisions and functional characteristics of desired new products and future enhancements
  • Serve as the subject matter expert in knowledge of market and competitive product trends both externally and within the organization.  Present regular market analyses to the leadership team
  • Lead efforts to bring new products to market consistent with NSC NPI processes
  • Produce and present webinars and customer presentations to showcase new products to customers
  • Review and recommend pricing / margin targets for the brands consistent with company goals and objectives to ensure ongoing brand growth
  • Oversee the development and management of the current product catalog to ensure a full range of products, providing consistent & logical set of products and price points covering channels of product distribution as well as manage warranty management of the existing product catalogue
  • Monitor progress toward planned profit, volume, and market share objectives as defined in NSC annual strategic plans
  • Acts as the internal subject matter expert to understand the market leading competitor’s product strengths and strategic direction to ensure that NSC maintains a competitive position within key sales channels
  • Maintain up to date information regarding Industry & Market data and trends including ongoing changes to market sizing, market share estimates and competitive positioning
  • Act as the main point of contact for Technical Support, Customer Service, Sales and Training departments to provide up to date product information and product training on new products
  • Collaborate with Sales & Operations to manage forecasts and product inventory levels throughout the product lifecycle including detailing current inventory positions, planned manufacturing levels, annual volume commitments, raw materials liabilities, warranty reserves and Excess & Overstock positions

 Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in Marketing/Business or other related field
  • Minimum of 5+ years industry experience in Product Management
  • Intermediate to Advanced experience in MS Office (particularly Excel, PowerPoint) required
  • Intermediate to advanced experience in ERP or business intelligence systems
  • Demonstrated strategic thinker and ability to implement tactically
  • Deep knowledge and experience within the Profession Security industry and associated markets
  • Excellent communication skills speaking, writing, and interpersonally
  • Demonstrated Project Management and/or Leadership skills.
  • Ability to understand and communicate the underlying technology and its value to customers
  • Proven ability to successfully operate in a highly cross-functional collaborative work environment
  • Strong communication & presentation skills for both internal and external facing audiences
  • Must be a model corporate representative projecting the positive aspects of our organization
  • Able to proactively identify and communicate areas of opportunity within our organization
  • Able to travel both domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time
